We are super excited to let you know that we are collaborating with UNITE Ridgefield, a Ridgefield High School club that gathers to discuss and address identity prejudice and how it can affect the culture in our schools and communities. Here is what we are doing. Meaningful Movies Ridgefield is doing all the logistics needed for the film screening event. UNITE Ridgefield is doing ALL THE REST - the film selection, speaker selection, flyer design/creation, and they will be your hosts for the evening!! We love this idea of bringing a youth perspective and youth voices to all of us.

UNITE Ridgefield and MMR will be screening, One Deadly Weekend in America, directed by Ursula Macfarlane. This documentary dives into the historical and cultural roots of gun violence in the US, a crisis unique among advanced nations. Through personal accounts, bodycam footage and expert analysis examines a series of fatal shootings - from self-defense claims and gang violence to mass shootings and suicide-by-cop. The film provides the historical background to today’s headlines, exploring the devastating human cost and the ongoing debate surrounding the Second Amendment and gun reform.

85 minute film with guest speakers to follow.

Join us after the film for a respectful open discussion with guest speakers

Maleah Cooper - RHS Arts Teacher who has experienced three serious school lockdowns in her education career
